Summer Fit Wrap Up.

Finally…..  Summer has reached its end.  Despite any challenges or obstacles you had to over come during the break;  I hope you stuck to your fitness plan, stayed active with your family, and got to rock that new swimming suit on the beach!  I know that I have put the work in….. and I am feeling it.  Now?  I’m looking forward to taking a full rest day, alone, eating some Ben and Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk ice cream, and soaking away the afternoon in a hot bath.  Scheduled for Thursday September 7, as soon as my kids are off on the bus 🙂

Now it’s time to reflect…..

  •      What goals did you set for yourself?
  •      Did you achieve them all?  At least some?
  •      If not, what stopped you?
  •      Was it lack of effort?  Poor planning?  Commitment issues?
  •      How do you feel about where you are at?
  •      Are you ready to move to the next step?

I feel great!  It definitely wasn’t perfect.  But I did it.  I stuck to my schedule and completed my two hardest and most challenging work out months!  Brief recap:  July was Upper Body Focus and August was the Nike+ Gym Strong Plan.  Then, I added in 3 days a week running, kickboxing, and Insanity workouts for extra cardio….. brutal.  For me, double work out days are extremely difficult, and I have had to throw down some serious naps through out as well.  But you’ve got to do whatever it takes….. right?

I reached some of my personal goals:  25 push ups, 50 squats with 35# weight, Improved core and upper body strength, and increased cardio performance.  Some of my goals I did not reach:  running 7 miles, completing 5 pull ups, or obtaining mega hand grip strength….. YET.   Your goals here may be way different from mine, and that’s fine.  It should be based on what you want to achieve physically and what fitness level you are at.  You may see more success, more quickly, and that’s great.  You may be moving at a slower pace, totally acceptable.  The point here is….. that you never give up.  As long as you are putting the effort in, sooner or later, you will get there.

So now that you have reflected, made some notes, took a deep breath, recouped from a long summer, and ate your ice cream…..  What’s next?

It’s time to start all over again.

My September will carry on much like the two previous months…..

workout schedule Sept

Tough Mudder in on September 17….. And all this extra work and extra effort is geared towards the successful completion of this one event.   After that, I kind of fall off a bit.  That’s the truth.  I am really focused on that not happening this year….. I have a great plan and high hopes…..  So we will see where that takes me.  I know it is going to be extremely hard, especially since September is Premiere Month, and all of our weekly shows are coming back!  But I believe that you will accomplish whatever you set your mind to.  Now if I can just keep my mind right…..

We signed our two youngest kids up for their first mud obstacle event this summer….. and they had a blast!  Having your family involved in similar activities is a great way to bond and do some fun things together.  I also helps with training because everyone is working as a team, so you don’t have to try to ditch them to get your work outs done!  I highly recommend some sort of active family function.  Our’s happens to be mud, but whatever tickles your fancy.  I’m hoping to teach them to rock climb next year and I really wanted to get them into kayaking this summer too, but we didn’t get it done.  They are young, we’ve got plenty of time.

I really hope that you have all had a fun and fit summer.  I hope you are feeling great about yourself, what you have accomplished, and that the hard work has paid off!  Take a break and enjoy it….. I truly mean that…..

Then get back to work!

Cheers! 🙂
