I’m really not sure why sometimes in life we feel so tired. Even when we are doing the same things that we always do. Just one day you realize that you don’t feel like yourself anymore, or like you could sleep for a week straight and it still wouldn’t be enough. Everything you do feels harder, and seems to take way more effort than it’s worth. It’s like you are just moving through the world with no passion, direction, or drive. I do know this… it doesn’t feel great and I’m not the only one who has been there.
Now I truly don’t feel this way very often, but I was there not too long ago and I was having a hard time trying to get myself out of it. I got plenty of rest, read a couple books that I had been eager to get into, avoided negative people / situations, and spent some great quality time with my family. Now don’t get me wrong, all of that was nice and much needed, but I still wasn’t feeling “together” or “myself” and it was driving me crazy! Then I happened across this little nugget I jotted down in a notebook some time ago:
YOU OFTEN FEEL TIRED, NOT BECAUSE
YOU HAVE DONE TOO MUCH, BUT
BECAUSE YOU HAVE DONE TOO LITTLE OF
WHAT SPARKS A LIGHT IN YOU.
There it is. Pretty simple really. So how do you get from where you are to fireworks? My answer? You need a soul reboot. Now this doesn’t have to be anything over the top like a near death experience or anything like that! You should just have to switch things up and do something that makes your soul happy. Something completely out of your ordinary.
For some it may be a relatively small thing like:
- Going for a hike in the woods
- Jumping in a lake
- Sticking your feet in the ocean
- Having lunch with an old friend
For others, you may need to step it up a notch:
- Take a trip without choosing a destination
- Go ride all the rides at an amusement park
- Jump up on a stage and sing because you have always been too afraid to
- Dance like no one is watching
You might be surprised how even the smallest thing could be what you have needed all along. We are always so busy trying to take care of the things in life that we know we have to do. Don’t stop doing that, of course, but don’t forget to take the time to do what makes your soul happy. You will feel much happier, much more productive and you can focus on what sparks that light in you!
Cheers! 🙂

That’s a great quote! I love good motivating quotes!
